INDIVIDUAL COMBATIVE MEASURES (ICM) COURSE

The Individual Combative Measures (ICM) course is designed to teach students basic combative skills needed to defend themselves against violent physical attacks.

The ICM course will focus on basic and simple techniques such as proper stance, movement, empty hand strikes, knee strikes, counter-moves, and blocks. Non-lethal options such as batons and pepper spray will also be covered to provide the student with other viable defense options.

The training will also incorporate handgun retention techniques that will allow the student to understand the dynamics of a close quarters battle confrontation while employing a handgun.

This course is mentally and physically demanding. The ICM course is tailored for all students, no prior combative experience is necessary.

Completion of this course does not certify any student to carry either a baton or pepper spray. The training is for informational purposes. Students will have to read and comply with their respective county, city, and state regulations.

Course Content:

SURVIVAL MINDSET: Developing and maintaining a proper survival / defensive mindset.

ATTACK RECOGNITION: Recognizing pre-threat indicators to a potential attack.

EMPTY HAND STRIKES: How to properly deliver a punch / elbow strike / and other empty hand strikes.

KNEE STRIKES: Delivering effective knee strikes in a close engagement.

BATONS: Understanding carry techniques, opening, stances, and proper strike zones.

PEPPER SPRAY: Delivery systems, techniques for carry, deployment considerations, physiological / psychological effects.

UTILIZING IMPROVISED WEAPONS: Using an umbrellas, pens, a stick.

HANDGUN RETENTION TECHNIQUES: Holster considerations, effectively utilizing handgun retention techniques and instinctive shooting.
